Pappy Vaidyan, a gifted physician and Ayurvedic practioner, has interestsinthe health care, plantation, and information technology sectors in the state.

The Bipha Group had its foundations laid in 1929. The flag ship BIPHA DRUG LABORATORIES was founded as a small pharmacy to cater to the health care needs of local populace. Today, the company has grown to become a multi-product, multi-location health care company with an extensive presence in the domestic and international markets. The group made its foray into the hospitality sector with the opening of HOTEL AMBADI at Thekkady in 1982. It was the first private sector resort at Periyar and the first hotel in the state to introduce the concept of the Heritage hotel.
